Melanie Anderson is a Memphis artist who expresses her joy of art through a variety of mediums. Melanie earned her BFA in graphic design, a license in art education from the University of Memphis and is currently pursuing her MFA at Memphis College of Art. Melanie began her career as a graphic designer.  She served as the Director of Advertising for Catherine's Stores Corporation for ten years.  Melanie is currently an art educator.
 

        Melanie's work reflects the influence of her life experiences. She creates art in a range of mediums including watercolor, pastel, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, clay, etc.  Melanie's recent work includes portraits, landscapes, abstracts, pet portraits and a figurative series inspired by her years in the fashion industry. She sells portraits by commission as well as custom works.


        Melanie’s work has been featured in RSVP Magazine, The Commercial Appeal, The Memphis Business Journal, The Memphis Flyer and shown at various venues throughout the Mid-South most recently at Eclectic Eye Collierville, Gallery 32, Java Cabana, Opera Memphis‚ Art Auction, St. George's Art Show, The Orpheum Art Auction, Artists on Central, The Glass House, Eclectic Eye Midtown, Fountain Gallery, Memphis College of Art, University of Memphis, Studio 1688, The Brooks Art and Design Showcase, Bolton High School and Arlington in April.
